In 2020, skiing on a powerful ski touring binding doesn’t mean you have to slug a lot of weight uphill. Marker is the latest to push the envelope with their all new M-Werks touring binding. This binding comes in at a light weight, but brings with it a lot of technology to bolster the downhill performance.
Utilizing plastic infused with 30% carbon stringers allows Marker to increase the overall strength in the binding while also cutting back on weight. Marker first utilized this material in their Alpinist binding that they release for the 2018/19 season. The Alpinist toe, in particular, impressed the masses so much that Marker decided to utilize the two-spring toe design for the all new M-Werks.
For the heel, the carbon strengthened plastic is utilized to shave weight while retaining the advantages of the alpine-style downhill heel. The full heel delivers superior performance through an active connection that maximizes power transmission. This performance difference is noticeable: especially when driving a bigger ski or in challenging conditions.
M-Werks from Marker blends the characteristics of the Kingpin and Alpinist bindings. The result is a binding that is powerful enough to drive any ski, but light enough to get deep into the backcountry.
