The timeless Atomic Backland 107 returns this season to charge even harder. The Backland 107 is the second widest ski in the series, but still maintains the same acclaimed reputation of incredible skiability-to-weight ratio. This ski delivers the flotation, energy, edge control, and open-faced smiles that other 100-something skis can only hollowly promise.
But seriously, Atomic’s HRZN Tech tip gives 15% more surface area to the ski for improved flotation in deep powder. Its Carbon Backbone gives the ski torsional stiffness. This stiffness from the carbon fiber provides the ski with lively responsiveness for more control over your skis while in variable conditions. Lastly, the ski’s full Dura Core sidewall construction gives added durability and dampening when the going gets fast. This 107 mm underfoot ski has a 20% tip rise, 70% camber underfoot, and a 10% tail rise. This manageable amount of tip and tail rise is considered a more new-school ski shape. One can edge in firm conditions with this modern shape, but don’t be afraid to let the tip and tail rise help you surf through powder. It’s impressive that Atomic fit all of this functionality into such a lightweight package (1550g). That just means fewer tired legs once you reach the top of your line.
The Atomic Backland 107 feels right at home in deep snow, at fast speeds, and of course, breaking trail uphill for more of the same (amazing skiing that is).
